General Event FAQs
Is it all really free?
Yes absolutely!
We’ll be giving away bulbs, cake and teas and coffees and entry to the dog show is also completely free. Donations are always very welcome to help us fund the next event but there is no obligation at all.
Please note, if you would like to make a donation on the day then we can only accept cash at this time.
Tell me more about the free bulbs
Part of our mission as a group is to beautify the neighbourhood and bring more nature to our little enclave of this great city. As such we do regular giveaways of bulbs, plants and gardening supplies (as well as any advice you might need!) - all we ask is that you use what we supply in your FRONT GARDEN (or a front windowsill) so that it can be enjoyed by the whole neighbourhood.
I have an allergy, will there be cake for me too?
All our cakes are homemade by local volunteers, we’ll have a healthy selection of dairy, gluten and nut free cakes but of course we can’t guarantee there is no cross-contamination as the cakes are not made in sterile factory environments. If you have a serious allergy we’d suggest you maybe just join us for a cup of coffee (and we’ll have plant-based milks for the drinks!)
Are there any activities for kids?
We have a small selection of games for children to play and as we are closing the road, there is also space for them to run around together and play. At our spring event we will also do plant pot painting - kids of all ages welcome - and they can take the pot home with them to plant the bulbs from our giveaway in your front garden or windowsill.
Why do I need to bring a plate and mug?
There’s no obligation to, but if you can bring your own then it just helps to do your bit for the environment as we can cut down on the amount of disposable equipment we use on the day. We try to utilise re-usable plates and mugs where ever we can already though.

Our judges will hand our rosettes and treats on the day
Is there anything for my dog on the day
Yes, we'll have water bowls and plenty of treats available. We'll even have poop bags if your pup gets caught short.
Will dogs be on leashes
Yes, we ask everyone to keep their dog on a leash for the duration of the event, unless they are performing a trick in our judging ring. If you are bringing along your dog(s) please do make sure they are leashed and under control so that everyone can enjoy the event.
